  1. The best book I read last year was Rooftoppers by Katherine Rundell. It’s a magical story about a group of orphans living on the rooftops of Paris, and a young girl’s search for her mum, with lots of excitement and drama.

  2. My Friend The Enemy is a gripping story set in the NE during WW2. Peter finds himself caught up in the war when a plane crashes near his home leaving a German soldier wounded. Should he help him or turn him in? What would you do? A tense and exciting read which will make you think differently.

  3. Chasing the Dark by Sam Hepburn is a pageturning detective thriller. Joe is only 14 when his mum is killed in a hit and run car crash and he is forced to begin investigations to uncover the truth. Pacy and unpredictable, it will keep you guessing.

  4. Frost Hollow Hall by Emma Carroll is an intriguing Gothic ghost story. Not just another haunted house story this one is scarily believable……

  5. I’m just finishing The Diamond Thief by Sharon Gosling and have really enjoyed it! Lots of action, crimes, mysteries, disguises… AND a circus AND a bit of steampunk thrown in for good measure. A very exciting adventure!
