What are you reading?

The hunt is on for brilliant books for 2013’s NE Book Award shortlist!!

What have you been reading that has that star quality?  Which book have you not been able to put down this year? Which book have you recommended to everyone?

Your book suggestions should be written by a UK-resident author and published in paperback in 2013 or early 2014

Just add your suggestions to the comments on this post.  We can’t wait to read them!

And the 2013 winner is…

Soldier Dog by Sam Angus.

Almost 300 excited students, librarians and teachers gathered at the Centre for Life on Friday to hear Soldier Dog announced as the winner of this year’s NE Book Award.  We were thrilled that Sam could join us for the award party – and equally delighted that Barry and Helen made the journey to Newcastle to meet their enthusiastic  fans and sign books (and balloons!)

Big thanks to our student judges for some awesome author introductions and to Seven Stories for brilliant bookselling.

Do let us know what you thought of the evening by posting your comments.

And The 2008 Winner is…

Sally Nicholls for Ways to Live Forever.

Congratulations to Sally and a big ‘thank you’ to all the authors and publishers and everyone else who helped to make this year’s NEBA the biggest and best one yet.

We’d love to hear your comments about this year’s award. If you have any photos from the party you’d like to see on the site send them to us.
