  1. My name is Irma Creighton and I go to Thomas Hepburn Community School; and I would like to ask Helen Peters: ‘ In your story did you always have the fire in the barn or were you going to take the story somewhere else?’

  2. I go to Thomas Hepburn Community School and I would like to ask Sally Nicholls: ‘ To get the information about the Black Death, did you already know quite a bit or did you have to research the Black Death?’

  3. I go to Thomas Hepburn Community School and I would like to ask Sam Angus: ‘When you were writing Soldier Dog, how did you get the reader to feel all the different emotions?’

  4. I go to Thomas Hepburn Community School and I would like to ask Gareth P.Jones: ‘ In your book you included a lot of detail. Do you research words in a thesaurus to make your story more complex; or do you read alot of other books, and gather a wide variety of adjectives and verbs?’

  5. I go to Thomas Hepburn Community School and I would like to ask Barry Hutchison: ‘Your book was really funny in some parts, but at any point during writing it did you want to change the story around? If you did which parts and why?

  6. My name is Sara Kiese and I go to Thomas Hepburn Community School and I would like to ask Barry Hutchison: ‘where did you get your inspiration from for this book?’

  7. Hello I’m Sara from The Thomas Hepburn School and I want to ask Helen Peters – why was Adam only mentioned in the book at the beginning and at the end?

Hi my name is Atifa Mahin and I go to Newminster Middle School.
Why did you pick a war based theme for your book?

  11. Sarah from St Marys Comprehensive,
My question is for the author of Frost Hollow Hall,
How old was Tilly in the story and would you say you were anything like her when you were her age?
    Thankyou.

  12. I love Frost Hallow Hall, and just to ask how did you come up with the idea of the book?

  13. I am Lucy Garman from Durham High School for Girls.
I would like to ask Katherine Rundell why did she choose the cello to play such an important part of her book? Why not a violin or viola?

  14. Jonathan Stroud:

Lockwood and Co. is now my all-time favourite book. I’d like to ask if you had to have tea with one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

    Victoria

  15. When I started reading The Nowhere Emporium I was pulled in to the book and couldn’t stop reading it. The characters in this book are unusual and different but some are sly and turned from good to bad. When Daniel went into the emporium and saw all the wonders in the corridors I wished I was there to see them all too. At the end of every chapter there was a cliff hanger which made me want to read on and on until I got to a point where I could stop. Also I thought the end chapters where a little bit scary when the Emporium was crumbling down and cracks started to appear on the walls and when Daniel nearly fell into darkness. At the end of the book I was shocked when silver handed the book and emporium over to Daniel but it was sad for Ellie to see her father go. Overall, I think this book was amazing and magical but the question is what wonders will Daniel add to the emporium and what will his future be like ? .
